Washington DC based photographer Sean McCormick is a native of Louisiana, made a rather long stop in the state of Texas before landing in the District of Columbia. He got involved in photography as a child while living in the Sudan. His father bought a camera to document the family’s travels and upon returning to the US, the camera was Sean’s to use. During the family’s time in Africa Sean visited Kenya, much of Europe, the UK, and Egypt.
This experience gave him an appreciation of people and places near and far, and the desire to see more. Photography has taken Sean to travel extensively and pursue the travel and story based photography that is the mainstay of his business today. Many of Sean’s projects are just he and his cameras. Sean’s work has been featured in the Altpick Awards (website), Print Magazine (Haggar Clothing), Communications Arts Design Annual (Haggar Clothing), Annual Report 100 (US Olympic Committee), two of the past three Society of Publication Design Annuals, and American Photography. As well as being in regional shows for the Dallas Society of Visual Communications and Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington. His clients include NIke, American Airlines, Smithsonian Magazine, Newsweek, Wrangler Westernwear, and The Washington Post Magazine.
Sean is married to wife Jenifer with two sons, Liam, 3 and Nick, 1 year, and resides in Washington DC. He hopes to be able to give his sons the same experience his parents gave him, the ability to travel and see as much as of the planet as they can.
Sean is a member and serves on the board of the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington, the Texas Photo Society, and the American Society of Media Photographers.
