As we enter 2010, an unscientific survey of the DC communications community finds that the worst may be behind us when it comes to the economy. While no one expects 2010 to be a great year, there clearly is a sense there’s more business opportunities out there. One reason, we were told, is that there may be a pent-up demand that carried over from 2009. Another reason is a growing sense of confidence that, as noted, the worst is behind us and companies can start taking the initiative when it comes to new marketing programs. One person told us there have been more new business initiatives in the first quarter of 2010 than was the case in the past two years. Another reason, we were told is that organizations can not "stay dark forever."
However, we’ve also seen another trend worth passing along: As a result of the recession and changes in technology, more and more employees now view changing jobs regularly as a normal part of their lives. In short, as employees have seen or heard about layoffs caused by the recession, the concept of loyalty to a organization also may be behind us.

Re: The Worst May Be Behind Us
Budgets are still being cut. This region is the least affected because of the govt. Many parts of the country are in a depression. Get used to offering greater value for less money.
