Entries are being accepted by the DC Ad Club for the 2010 ADDYs – in fact, an eager-beaver discount runs through Dec. 18, with Jan. 8, 2010, being the final date for submissions.
The DC Ad Club ADDY Awards, are the first step in the American Advertising Federation’s three-tiered national competition. Winners from the local level compete in District Two (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and DC); those winners go on to compete in the AAF national competition. With over 60,000 entries nationwide, the ADDY® Awards are the world’s largest and arguably toughest advertising competition. The ADDYs represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types, creative by all sizes and entrants of all levels from anywhere in the world. It is the only creative awards program administered by the advertising industry for the industry.
Entering the ADDY® competition supports the entire industry, because the AAF and its local and district affiliates use the proceeds to enhance advertising through programs such as public service, internships, advocacy groups, advertising education, and consumer awareness.
Selection of the most creative entry in each category is effected by a scoring process in which a panel of judges evaluate all creative dimensions of every entry. In each category, a GOLD ADDY® is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is judged to be superior to all other entries in the competition. Entries that are also considered outstanding and worthy of recognition receive a SILVER ADDY®. The number of awards given in each category is determined by the judges, based on the relative quality of work in that category.
The DC ADDYs will be awarded March 19, 2010, at the Carnegie Institution of Washington.
