Each year, Washington National Cathedral takes time to honor and appreciate the hard-working volunteers who make it possible for the Cathedral to welcome visitors year round and this year, Mac Mannes, Inc., provided the emblematic jewelry for the Cathedral Volunteer Program. Volunteers are presented with an antique silver finished die struck lapel pin signifying their years of service which, for some numbers, an astounding 70 years!

Volunteers touch nearly every vital working part of the Cathedral, some highly visible to the public but many roles are largely unseen. The volunteers most visitors are likely to encounter are the Cathedral docents, ushers and greeters.
Cathedral docents are on hand to help personify the mission of hospitality to people of all faiths and perspectives. For individuals, families or large groups touring the Cathedral and its grounds, Docents interpret the history, artisanship and iconography of the edifice. They provide visitors with guided tours, general information and answers to questions
