
Urban Igloo, the Washington, D.C., metropolitan region’s rental-home locator service, named longtime marketing and sales executive Debbie Kaplan its director of marketing.
Kaplan most recently served as vice president of business development for a professional recruiting firm in D.C. that focuses on the interactive and marketing industries. Before that, she was an account director for MarketBridge, a global professional services firm.
Previously, Kaplan was director of broadband affiliate marketing for AOL, where she created and managed affiliate marketing programs for the company’s broadband partners, such as Time Warner Cable.
As director of online marketing at Qwest Communications, she developed an online consumer partner program, working with more than 30 online partners including Bloomberg, Juno and Netscape.
While serving as director of international consumer marketing at Sprint International and also the company’s group manager of affinity marketing, she managed Sprint’s global calling-card relationship with Visa and also grew and managed one of its first and most successful affinity programs.
In addition, she ran numerous sales promotions for MCI.
Kaplan, who currently serves on the board of directors for the Ad Club of Metropolitan Washington, joins Urban Igloo as the company gains momentum and continues to rent apartments at a steady pace while signing up landlords to its service.
