The Washington Business Journal along with sponsor McGuireWoods and Rising Star Sponsor SAP America, Inc. announce the sixth annual "Women Who Mean Business" awards program. This award is designed to honor the region's most influential business women. They are looking for women from every industry and profession; women who've made a difference in their communities, blazed a trail for the rest of us, and are leaving a mark on Washington, DC, business.
Nominees must be female residents of or be employed within the Greater Washington DC area and be an established business leader with a strong record of innovation in her field, outstanding performance in her business and/or a clear track record of meaningful community involvement.
Nominations will be judged on three criteria: Professional accomplishments, community leadership, as well as awards and milestones. Each of these should be addressed in the nomination. Nominations also should include as much detail as possible about a nominee's specific business and community accomplishments.They are looking for real tangible results, as in "She increased the company's sales last year by 40%, bringing in AOL and Nextel as new clients" or "She raised an additional $500,000 to help send 20 more kids to college."
