Operation Purple is a summer camp program operated by the National Military Family Association. In realizing how the children of deployed military personal are affected by war, the National Military Family Association felt it necessary to help families deal with the situation. The summer camps, which cater to the more than 155,000 American children with at least one parent deployed, provides a free experience where children get to step away from their everyday lives and be carefree kids for a while. Of course, the camps also afford campers the chance to learn new coping skills, build a support network and deal with the stress their peers at home could not understand.
