AXIS Communications has formed an Advisory Board comprised of nationally recognized experts. The board will provide AXIS with insights and perspectives on trends and events that impact the industries in which AXIS serves clients.

 

The Advisory Board includes the following industry leaders:

 

Education: Steven G. Seleznow, Ed.D., Deputy Director, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to joining the Gates Foundation’s U.S. Program education initiative, Mr. Seleznow served as partner and chief investment officer at DC-based Venture Philanthropy Partners. With more than 30 years of public education leadership, Mr. Seleznow also served as deputy superintendent of the Montgomery County (MD) Public Schools and interim superintendent of the District of Columbia Public Schools.

 

Financial: Terrence C. Golden, Chairman, Bailey Capital Corporation. Chairman of the Washington, DC-based real estate and venture capital investment company, Mr. Golden also chairs the Federal City Council, and previously served as President/CEO of Host Marriott Corporation, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, and Administrator of the General Services Administration.  Mr. Golden is a director of Host Marriott Corporation, PEPCO Holdings Inc., and The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation.

 

Healthcare & Non-profit: Tamara A. Smith, CEO, YWCA of the National Capital Area. Prior to joining the YWCA, Ms. Smith served as president & CEO of D.C. Chartered Health Plan, CEO & executive VP of Capital Community Health Plan. She also held executive positions at Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States, Greater Southeast Healthcare System, and Medstar Health. Ms. Smith is active in a broad variety of volunteer and community-based organizations.

 

Hospitality: Kevin Kilkeary, President, Prospera Hospitality. Prior to founding the Pennsylvania-based hotel management firm, Mr. Kilkeary spent 30 years with Interstate Hotels Corporation, holding a number of key regional and corporate leadership roles, including VP positions in operations, sales and marketing as well as serving as Interstate’s president and chief operating officer. He is a nationally recognized hospitality expert and is active in a variety of industry and charitable organizations.

 

Legal: Marc L. Fleischaker, Chairman, Arent Fox. In addition to serving as chairman of Arent Fox, Mr. Fleischaker maintains an active legal practice in a number of areas, including trade association representation, environmental law, antitrust law, litigation and civil rights law. He also participates in many other non-profit activities and holds membership in the Federal City Council, the Economic Club of Washington, and the American Society of Association Executives.

 

Technology: Sean McDermott, Founder & CEO, Windward IT Solutions. Prior to launching Windward – a global management consulting and systems engineering firm – Mr. McDermott was the founder and CEO of RealOps, Inc., the pioneer in enterprise management Run Book Automation solutions.  After BMC Software acquired RealOps in July 2007, Mr. McDermott continued on at BMC as the VP of Service Automation Solutions. He has also held senior positions with Predictive Systems and Booz Allen Hamilton.
