
- Spectrum named Katherine J. Maynard as chief operating officer, a new position. She joined the agency in 1988 from one of the firm’s charter clients, a biotechnology company, and, since then, has directed strategy and execution of communications programs for nationwide pharmaceutical product launches and patient advocacy communications campaigns. She became Executive Vice President, Client Services in early 2007. As CEO, Maynard will assume responsibility for overall management of the firm’s day-to-day operations, including client services, business development, finance and human resources.
- Helios HR, in partnership with Smart CEO magazine, announced the winners of the third annual Apollo Awards for 2009 and Edelman’s DC office won in the “large companies” category. The Apollo Awards recognize DC-area organizations that invest in promoting employee development.
- Qorvis Communications won the 2009 Webby Award for Best Mobile Application in the “Listings and Updates” category. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences selected Qorvis’ “Navigating Washington” app for iPhone and Blackberry from nearly 10,000 entries from all 50 U.S. states and more than 60 countries.
