- Qorvis Communications announced that the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest professional association devoted to human resource management, has selected Qorvis to enhance its nationwide “I AM SHRM” advertising and branding campaign. Qorvis will strengthen SHRM’s existing creative and branding efforts and the campaign will focus primarily on print, online and interactive advertising. The work will include ad testing, branding, advertising and media planning.
- Crosby Marketing Communications has been named agency of record for Brightview Senior Living, a national retirement housing company with 17 communities in eight states. Crosby is creating a new brand image for Brightview built on the theme: “Live Vibrant.” A new logo, sales materials, advertising, direct mail and special promotions will support consumer outreach and lead generation programs for Brightview’s communities, which offer Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care programs.
- Exemplar Strategic Communications adds three clients: EdWorks, an Ohio-based high school improvement organization, tapped Exemplar for communications strategy, message development, and media outreach; Kinetic Potential Scholars, a Maryland-based non-profit, retained Exemplar for strategic development focused on its student mentoring program. And the DC-based Association of American Publishers tapped Exemplar for editorial services and communications strategy.
- Environics Communications has launched a Sustainability & Clean Energy practice. The new practice will be led by Frank Walter, who joined the agency as a senior vice president in the DC office. The agency’s Sustainability & Clean Energy practice will provide PR counsel and services to clients who advocate behavioral changes that help the environment, market sustainable products or services, and provide alternative sources of clean energy for consumers and industry.
Prior to joining Environics, Walter ran his own PR consultancy, Impala Communications. He also served as VP/PR at MCI, where he worked for nine years, and was director of public relations and marketing at Reading Is Fundamental, the oldest and largest nonprofit children's literacy organization in the U.S.
- Hisaoka Public Relations and Flash Communications have merged to create a full-service PR and marketing company. In remembrance of Hisaoka PRs’ founder, Joan Hisaoka, the combined companies will be called Hisaoka Communications. She died of colon cancer in May 2008, at the age of 48. Flash specializes in food and beverage, restaurant and hotel representation while Hisaoka serves nonprofits and hospitality, real estate, fashion, sports, and arts clients. Hisaoka Communications will operate out of the address at which both companies are currently headquartered at 2000 P St. NW.
