O’Keyla Smith and Laura Chwirut have joined MDB Communications, a DC-based advertising and marketing communications firm.

Smith joins as an account executive and will work on various client brands including BOMA International, Fannie Mae and the Association of Corporate Counsel. Before joining MDB, she worked as a public affairs coordinator and traffic/continuity manager for Clear Channel Communications. As a public affairs coordinator, she hosted, wrote, and co-produced “The Working Life,” a Sunday morning public affairs segment. Smith has also worked with Shaw MainStreet News and CTV throughout her career. O’Keyla Smith graduated from Howard University with a BA in Broadcast Journalism.

Chwirut joins MDB Communications as an art director and will work on various client brands, including Fannie Mae, D.C. Lottery, BOMA International and Hunter Douglas. Before joining MDB, Chwirut was a senior designer at Chesapeake Bay Candle. She contributed to the development and packaging of branded and private label home fragrance items. Chwirut has also provided art direction for GM (Buick, GMC), Boston Market, AAA Western New York, and Churchill Downs Incorporated. Chwirut is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design.
