The current healthcare reform negotiations are an issue with high stakes for the Obama administration, Congress, interest groups, citizens and media, all trying to make sense of a dizzying array of lingo, updates and challenges.  And it’s all happening in the midst of a communication climate that has changed dramatically, from the way reporters cover stories to the changing face of online and grassroots communication. The timing is crucial, and the ability to communicate your position effectively lies at the heart of it all.

In the first episode of “L Street”, five senior members of the Fleishman Hillard D.C. healthcare and public affairs groups - Bill Black, SVP and senior partner, public affairs; Pat Cleary, SVP, public affairs; Christina Pearson, SVP, healthcare; Claire Sheahan, SVP, healthcare; and Kathleen Siedlecki, SVP and senior partner, healthcare - got together to talk about the communications challenges and implications of the current healthcare reform negotiations.

Listen in as this group of communications counselors discusses the issues – and why “if you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.”  And, check back every month for a new “L Street” discussion of a timely issue for communicators.
