The WIFTI Summit will run concurrently with ScriptDC, the premiere writers’ conference in the Mid-Atlantic. Summit pass holders will have full access to ScriptDC. “Rarely does such a wide-ranging group of women have a chance to gather, share their expertise, and plot a future that shares their visions on more screens,” said Jane Barbara, ScriptDC founder and Summit co-chair.
Panel discussions, master classes and film screenings will demonstrate how to take the initiative in the business and craft of factual TV programming, successful feature films, game development, and garnering funds and financial backers.
Speakers include:
• Dara Marks, script consultant, will discuss the feminine heroic. “Writers, producers, and directors will all walk away inspired,” said Jane Barbara.
• Christine Nee, whose Disney Junior channel’s smash hit, Doc McStuffins, exemplifies how writers, directors and producers can literally change a child’s view of the world by exposing them to a diverse range of role models.
• Laurie Scheer, who has worked for cable and major broadcast outlets, will share business insights, including how to use social media to pitch and finance projects. “This workshop is a must for any emerging writer or producer who needs to learn how to pitch the potential of their project to potential funders and industry professionals,” said Judith Snyderman, Summit co-chair.
