With the approach of Advertising Week DC, which runs from Sept. 10-14, DC agencies were issued a challenge - have your most junior creative person dream up something that inspires AWE, the theme this year’s ADWKDC.

At SmithGifford, their new junior art director, Alex Biles, was put on the case and dreamed up a number of fun ideas, but the big bold idea was "15 minutes to awe us."

The Falls Church agency thought this would be a great way to give everyone who is looking for a job in advertising their chance to shine.  “We have jobs to fill and they need a chance,” Karen Riordan, agency president, told Capitol Communicator.  “So we jumped into action with a web banner, blogpost, ads on craigslist, and lots of Facebook and Twitter and LinkedIn...to see if we could entice people to come by and awe us,” she added.

The day of AWE at SmithGifford was today and, Riordan added, “ it has been AWESOME!   We've had amazing candidates come by - starting at 8:30 this morning - and we've had six interview stations set up to give everyone who comes by a 15-minute interview.”

And, she added, “we feel confident we'll be able to grant some second interviews and make a few offers!”
