Microsoft Windows is expected to reveal its new Surface slate tablet on Oct. 25, putting them in direct competition with iPads and the many Android-powered tablets. Ads have already started running for the new Surface and Windows 8. According to TechCruch, the Surface will start at $499 and includes a Touch Cover with integrated touch-sensitive keyboard.

Later this month, we expect Apple to launch the iPad Mini. TechCrunch posted some likely mock-ups. It looks to compete directly with the Kindle Fire HD and the Nexus 7. In addition, Best Buy announced it will be selling its own Android-based tablet, Insignia Flex, in their stores. It will compete directly with the Kindle Fire HD, Nexus 7 and iPad Mini.

In the midst of all the hype over new tablets comes a Harvard study saying tablet users bend their neck and back more than desktop and laptop users. OnlineDegrees.Org created an infographic from the study.

Will you be getting a new tablet this holiday season? If so, which one?
