The Washington Post announced new developer portal, and is publishing three APIs for non-commercial applications. The APIs are not limited, and can be called directly from a client-side application.

The Post is opening the data behind their Issue Engine site, which includes hundreds of statements and transcripts from President Obama and Governor Romney. The second API has data behind their White House Visitors Log site. The third is the data for their Campaign Finance Explorer. The plan is to release additional APIs and add features to the site.

Additionally,The Washington Post is organizing an Election Hackathon for Oct. 6 and 7 along with NPR and the Sunlight Foundation. Developers can sign-up here - https://www.eventbrite.com/event/4165549270?ref=ebtnebregn.
