A piece posted in The Careerists Journal on May 11 stated that if you are looking for a job in Marketing Communications? The best places are Washington DC, New York, Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia.

The rest of the post stated:

Thats where we found 32% of new marcom jobs last week. Seattle follows close behind, but has only 3% of all the jobs we analysed, and is the only west coast city in the top ten.

Lets drill down a bit. Seven out of the ten marcom job posts  that we examined in DC were either government-related or in the defense industry. This is expected. What gave me pause was that DC has the largest share of marcom jobs out of all US metro areas - fully 8%. We're hiring a lot of people to tap into federal dollars.

PS. We said we would follow the trends revealed in earlier posts. Washington DC continues to have the largest number of auditor jobs http://bit.ly/96KJPT, and the top cities for recruiter jobs are still all on the east coast http://bit.ly/9Akd1r.
