The DC Chapter of the Black Public Relations Society elected officers for the 2009 term. Dedra Owens, president of DOT Communications, will serve as the new president; and Glenn Dixon, president of Upstream Media Communications will serve as VP. Other officers are Second VP/ Membership Tiffany Young, Treasurer Chris Epps, Secretary Kristen Youngblood and Parliamentarian Michael Dutton. (Check our photo file to see who's who in the photo.)
- The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences announced its nominees for the 13th Annual Webby Awards. NYTimes.com, NBC.com, The Onion and the BBC garnering the most. Close to home, Arlington-based PBS and DC-based NPR came in with five each, and Silver Spring-based Discovery Communications had four. Winning a Webby is considered one of the highest honors in the Internet world. Winners, to be presented in NYC on June 8, are determine by fans, who cast their votes through April 30 at http://pv.webbyawards.com.
