Where do Baltimore businesspeople rank on the social media scale? Charm City is tied at 38 with 10 other cities, cracking the list of 50 Most Social Cities.
NetProspex, a B2B sales and marketing database, assigned a social index score (NPSI) based on a) social presence (the number of employees registered with social media pro¬files across Twitter, LinkedIn, or Facebook using a corporate email address) and b) social connectedness (the number of connections across social network).
Baltimore scored 13, along with apparent social media counterparts Kansas City; Orlando, FL.; Nassau-Suffolk County, NY; Monmouth, NJ; Miami; Richmond, VA; Ann Arbor, Mich.; St. Louis; Cleveland; and Detroit.
California is the king of social media, with four of its cities making the top 10. San Francisco is the most social media savvy city, coming out on top with a score of 47 NPSI. Coming in second is San Jose (45 NPSI), followed by Ventura (27 NPSI) and Oakland (22 NPSI).
Which city has the ignominy of being the least social city? That would be Anchorage, Alaska, with an NPSI of 3.
