SnagFilms and the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development announced the winner of Washington’s Best Film competition at an event at George Washington University. “Released for Life,” produced by students attending The Documentary Center at George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs was named Best Film by D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray and SnagFilms founder and chairman Ted Leonsis.

"Potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars are missing" from the local chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science, reported Bruce Leshan of 9News Now, and the organization has voted to proceed with filing criminal charges against its former treasurer after it found the money missing.

“Just about everybody is familiar with the Emmys -- they're among the most prestigious awards in television,” Leshan reported
